Ian hit me up about the new video for Muscles' song The Lake, which is alright, but way not as good as the treatment for the video that's been swimming around in my head for the last half year or so. Whatever.

But the director, Jaron Albertin, has got some pretty nice stuff up. In particular, his video for Dave Gahan's Kingdom, is pretty sweet. It's like the very best of Crewdson, minus Crewdson's particularly idiosyncratic overdone touches. In a fair number of Crewdson photos, I find myself wanting to see the locales minus the people. Albertin's been kind enough to provide exactly that:

...for the last weekend of Joey Lehman Morris' show, the doubt can just roll off the tongue.

Shotgun Space will be open from 7 to 10 tonight, during the opening of the Robert Nelson exhibit at another year in LA, and then again on Sunday from 1 to 4.

I rode the zipper in high school, pretty much right after riding that giant hammer swingy ride thing. Considering how wack my inner ear imbalance is, it wasn't a good idea.

My zippermate, Cameron, was pretty enthusiastically rocking us into flips for the first ascent to the top. I stopped him pretty quickly, but the damage was already done. I tried to hold tight, flexing my stomach and all that noise, but by the time we got back around to the top of it - whammo! - I threw up out the side.

Star's show is opening tonight.

Opening reception June 13th, 2008 from 7-10pm
June 13th through June 28th

So after much deliberation and careful consideration, Star and I decided to make our own Jucy Lucys (video clip not suitable for the faint of heart).

Basically a beef hockey puck stuffed with american cheese (3 pieces max), these 1/3+ pound burgers are no joke. However, after careful calculation, we were unsatisfied with the amount of cheese the beef pocket was able to contain and opted for the addition of one slice during cooking (to coat the burger) and another during the dressing phase. Other essential elements: butter-grilled buns, grilled sweet onions, and tomato.

Needles to say, they were winners.
