...attended Andy and Julie's opening.

If the moment should fail us.
Julie's show consisted of some nice large prints of what appeared to be a long view over a bay. Extremely small details in the photos registered nicely - a man stands dwarfed and surrounded by the water in one, so small as to not be immediately noticeable.
Elsewhere, two hanging quilts and a large patchwork of meticulously-lain 8.5 x 11 paper mimicked the patterns of pixillation in the photos.
Unfortunately, all of my photos of Julie's work were crap, so I don't have much to show.
For his part, Andy Janacua covered the gallery floor in a ton of flour. Literally.
The wheat is shipped from the US to Mexico, where it is processed and re-imported back into the US. In Mexico, the American flour is cheaper than the Mexican flour. Andy purchased all 2000 lbs of it in Mexico.
Thinking of how surprised I was to see that a ton of sand amounted to little more than a bath tub full, I asked Andy what a ton of flour looks like. He responded with "40 50 pound bags."
Since Andy is one of the artists Ian and I plan on showing, I let him know that if he tries to pull this shit in our gallery, I'll kill him.
