Do you like Deadwood? 'Cos Ian and I sure do. That Swearengen is a man after our hearts.
So as we were gearing up for our first show, inviting artists and setting a date, and beginning the late evenings of paint, paint, painting, a few words from Al's mouth struck me as particularly relevant.
"We are in the presence of the new."
If you've seen the show, Swearengen was speaking of the uncertainties presented by Hearst's arrival. Which really has nothing to do with us. But looking at the eight artists we'd invited and their work, and considering that we've finally pulled it together with the gallery, well, the phrase just seemed to fit.
Eight emerging artists, all recently graduated or currently attending various LA art schools. A new gallery space. New bodies of work. The new, or at least the presence of it.
